Kit Digital 2026: The Complete Guide for Spanish Businesses (€3,000–€29,000 in EU Grants)
The EU is subsidising the digitalisation of Spanish businesses through the Kit Digital voucher. Here is the plain-English version: how much you get, who qualifies, and how to be ready so you don't miss out.
Kit Digital is an EU grant (NextGenerationEU): it gives you a voucher to digitalise your business, and you never pay it back.
The amount ranges from €3,000 (freelancers) to €29,000 (companies up to 250 employees), depending on your segment.
Applying is four steps: register on Acelera Pyme, do the self-assessment test, submit the application, and choose a digitiser.
In 2026 the programme runs until the funds run out, get ready now, because it is handed out first-come, first-served.
Kit Digital is financed by the European Union's NextGenerationEU funds.
The European Union is putting money on the table so that Spanish businesses go digital. It is called Kit Digital, and since 2022 it has handed out billions in vouchers for websites, online shops, cybersecurity and more. Most of the freelancers and small businesses that could claim it... simply don't. This guide explains, without the jargon, what it is, how much you get, and how to be ready so you are not left out.
What Kit Digital actually is, in plain terms
Kit Digital is a public grant programme from the Government of Spain, managed by Red.es and financed by the European NextGenerationEU funds under the Recovery Plan. Translated: the administration gives you a digital voucher (a fixed amount of money) so you can hire digital solutions (a website, an online shop, a CRM, cybersecurity) from approved companies called agentes digitalizadores (digitisers). You never touch the cash: the voucher pays the solution's invoice directly.
It is not a loan. You do not pay it back. It is a subsidy, conditional on you genuinely digitalising your business.
How much you get: amounts by segment
What you can receive depends on the size of your workforce. The programme splits beneficiaries into segments:
Maximum voucher by headcount, from Segment III (freelancers) to Segment V (up to 250 employees).
Segment III (0–2 employees, most freelancers): up to €3,000.
Segment II (3–9 employees): up to €6,000.
Segment I (10–49 employees): up to €12,000.
Segment IV (50–99 employees): up to €25,000.
Segment V (100–249 employees): up to €29,000.
€29,000
the maximum voucher, for medium-sized companies of up to 250 employees (Segment V)

The important shift of the last couple of years? The programme raised the Segment III voucher to €3,000 and widened its reach to companies of up to 250 employees (Segments IV and V), which used to be reserved for the smallest businesses. More and more companies now qualify.
Can you claim it? The basic requirements
Kit Digital is aimed at freelancers, micro-businesses and SMEs with a tax address in Spain. Broadly, you need to:
Be a registered autónomo or an SME/micro-business with fewer than 250 employees.
Have a minimum trading history (usually 6 months registered in the RETA or as a company).
Be up to date with your tax (Hacienda) and Social Security obligations.
Not exceed the accumulated de minimis aid limits of recent years.
Complete the self-assessment test (it is mandatory).
An honest note
The exact requirements (trading history, de minimis amounts, deadlines) are set by each call (convocatoria) in its own rules. Before you take anything for granted, confirm it in the official rules and on acelerapyme.gob.es. We give you the map; the fine print always lives at the official source.
How to apply, step by step
The process end to end: registration, self-assessment, application, and choosing your digitiser.
1
Register on Acelera Pyme
Go to acelerapyme.gob.es and create your account with a digital certificate or Cl@ve. It is the front door to the whole process.
2
Take the self-assessment test
A short questionnaire (around 13 questions) that measures your digital maturity. There is no pass mark (you just have to do it) but it is mandatory in order to claim the voucher.
3
Apply for your digital voucher
When your call is open, you submit the application on the Red.es electronic office, in the procedure for your segment.
4
Choose your digitiser
Once the voucher is granted, you pick a company from the official catalogue of agentes digitalizadores, who delivers the solution and invoices against your voucher.
What can you spend the voucher on?
The voucher is not free cash: it is spent on categories of solutions from the official catalogue. The most useful ones for a local business:
Some of the eligible solutions from the official catalogue.
Website and online presence: a professional site so people find you on Google.
E-commerce: selling online, with a catalogue and a payment gateway.
Social media and marketing management to win customers.
Customer management (CRM) so no opportunity slips through.
Cybersecurity and secure workplace to protect your data.
E-invoicing, virtual office and process management to save hours every week.
And the direction of travel is clear: the programme keeps adding artificial intelligence and managed-cybersecurity solutions, exactly where a small business gains the most time.
The 2026 status: is it open right now?
Here we have to be straight, because there is a lot of confusing information out there. The original Kit Digital calls (Segments I, II and III) closed in October 2025. In January 2026, the official gazette published Orden TDF/39/2026, which reactivates the programme's legal framework and allows the leftover European funds from earlier calls to be redistributed.
What does that mean for you today? That the programme drops the rigid closing date and instead runs until the funds are exhausted. New calls are published as those remaining funds get reassigned. Which is why the real status changes from week to week: the only reliable answer is the official source.
Where to check the real status
Always look at the Red.es electronic office, sede.red.gob.es, and acelerapyme.gob.es before acting. If your call is open, the deadline is shown there; if not, it appears as closed or coming soon.
Why get ready TODAY, even if your call is not open
There is a lesson from the previous calls worth burning into memory: the money is handed out in order of arrival, until it runs out. The businesses that already had their registration done, their self-assessment passed and their digitiser chosen were able to apply the moment the window opened. The ones who started finding out that day arrived too late.
Create your account and do the self-assessment now: it is free and does not expire.
Decide which solutions you want to fund (website, online shop, CRM, cybersecurity).
Have your digitiser identified so you are not improvising on opening day.
The voucher does not go to whoever needs it most, but to whoever shows up ready on the day it opens.
The Kodable team
How Kodable helps
We build exactly the kind of solutions Kit Digital subsidises: websites that sell, online shops, AI agents, automations and custom tools for local businesses. We help you reach opening day with everything ready, the registration, the self-assessment, and a clear plan for what to build with your voucher.
An honest note on the fine print: for the voucher to pay the invoice, the solution must be delivered by an agente digitalizador from the official catalogue. We walk the whole path with you (design, build and launch) and guide you to the right digitiser when the moment comes. No promises we can't keep.
Get ready for your Kit Digital
Tell us about your business in a 15-minute call. We'll tell you what you can fund and leave your application ready for when your call opens.
No. It is a subsidy, not a loan. If you meet the conditions and justify the solution, there is nothing to repay.
How much can a freelancer with no employees claim?
A freelancer in Segment III (0–2 employees) can receive up to €3,000 in digital voucher.
Can I choose any company to build my website?
Only if it is registered as an agente digitalizador in the official Red.es catalogue. The funded solution must be delivered by an approved digitiser.
Is the application window open right now?
It depends on the call and the moment. The framework has been reactivated since 2026 and runs until funds are exhausted; check the status on sede.red.gob.es and acelerapyme.gob.es.

Every week brings another tool you are supposed to be using already. Here is a way to decide what your business actually needs, in one afternoon, using nothing more expensive than a list of the work you already do.
Most small businesses run on a second, unpaid job: the copying, chasing and re-typing that fills the gaps between real work. Here is which parts of it to hand over first, and how to choose without buying six subscriptions you do not need.
Every week without this is a booking someone else is getting.
When a customer searches nearby and books the competitor with a faster site and instant replies, it isn't because they were better. It's because they were easier to find and faster to answer. That's fixable, and it starts with a 15-minute chat that costs nothing.
